Frequently asked questions
WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING WINES FOR A SPECIAL EVENT?
When choosing wines for your special event, it's important to consider a variety of factors, such as the weather, the type of food you'll be serving, and the preferences of your guests.
With our extensive range of whites, reds, and sparkling wines, you're sure to find the perfect options to suit your needs and budget.
Our team can assist you with wine selections.
HOW MUCH WINE DO I NEED FOR MY EVENT OR WEDDING?
The amount of wine you will need for your event will depend on the type of crowd you invite. As a rough guide, we find that on average, 50% of guests will enjoy wine, 30% will prefer beer, and 20% will mix drinks.
Work on a 750ml bottle of wine providing 5 glasses of wine. If you assume that each guest will have a couple of drinks in the first hour and then a drink each hour after that, you can calculate how many bottles of wine to cater for.
It's always preferable to slightly over cater, as there will be guests who start with beer and switch to wine, and guests who prefer a couple of glasses of bubbles and then switch to still wine.
HOW DO I CALCULATE THE AMOUNT OF WINE TO ORDER FOR MY EVENT OR WEDDING?
If you have 100 guests for a 5-hour reception and assume they will have 6 drinks across that time frame (some will have more, others will drink less so this is just a rough average), with 50% preferring to drink wine, then 100 guests x 6 drinks x 50% = 300 drinks. Divided by 5 glasses per bottle equals 60 bottles of wine or 5 cases.
As previously suggested, it is always preferable to slightly over cater, so you may want to order more than 5 cases depending on your preferences and the type of crowd you invite.
WHAT FACTORS SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING WINES FOR MY EVENT OR WEDDING?
When choosing wines for your wedding, consider factors such as the likely weather on the day, whether you're planning a champagne toast, whether you want to match the wines to food, and whether you have any personal preferences or special occasions you want to commemorate.
Generally, you want to keep it fairly simple, with one or two whites, one or two reds, and a particular sparkling that you love. Sauvignon Blanc blends are generally universally popular, while Margaret River Chardonnay and medium-bodied, soft Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are generally crowd pleasers for whites and reds, respectively.
If you're unsure about the exact wines you would prefer, you can always book a private tasting while you are in the region to sample our extensive range.
